History

Inspired by Payne Stewart’s 1991 U.S. Open victory at Hazeltine National Golf Club, the Knicker Open was conceptualized in 1991 by two City of Lakes Rotarians, Ron Jost and King Bavender, to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities.  The Minneapolis City of Lakes Rotary Club began sponsoring the event in 1994.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities operate eight inner-city locations, as well as Voyageur Environment Center (VEC) in Mound, Minnesota.  Their mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

Over $750,000 has been raised by the Knicker Open and City of Lakes Rotary since its inception in 1992, benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities.

On behalf of the 17,500 kids benefiting from Boys & Girls Club programs, thank you for your participation in the 2010 Knicker Open… it makes a big difference to the lives of so many kids.
